Mission Statement

The mission of the Bastrop County Audubon Society (BCAS), a certified chapter of the National Audubon Society, is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds and other wildlife, for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity.

Locally, this means either taking a leadership role, or working with other environmental groups, to oppose environmentally hazardous projects, as well as striving to improve existing situations. By presenting interesting and informative programs at general meetings open to the public, we hope to raise local awareness of birds and wildlife, the ecosystems in which they live, and local environmental issues. The educational programs provided to local schools are designed to foster within our children a respect and appreciation for the diversity of our natural world that will be carried forward into adulthood.
